RECOMMENDATIONS FOR YOUR SPA

TEMPERATURE: 98 to 100. Any hotter than body temperature and you will elevate your temperature when you are in the spa.

TIME: Because of the temperature, you should cool off between uses, limit your soak to 15 minutes intervals.

pH: 7.2 to 7.8. Any lower than 7.0 and damage is done to the heater. Any higher than 7.8 and the water may become cloudy. Higher than 8.0 and you could be depositing scale on the heater.

Sanitizer: If you are using the Bromine, Chlorine, or F.R.O.G systems,
you will wish to maintain 1.0 to 3 ppm. of sanitizer. Because hot water can be a breeding ground for bacteria and germs, it is better to have a higher level of sanitizer than a lower reading. Always check your chemistry before using the spa!

SHOCKING: Add 1 cap of shock to the spa once a week to really clean the water if you are on one of the Halogen based systems. Normally _ cap of spa shock will remove most organic mater
if you add it after each use of the tub. If the water is hazy or cloudy, you may add 1 cap of Chlorine Spa Shock to help clear the water.

BUBBLES: A well maintained spa should not look like a bubble bath. Suds X, or a defoamer will remove the bubbles. A little squirt is all it takes! Too much and you get a film on the water.

FILTER: Remove and clean the filter element every week. A clean filter works better and is much easier on the pump! There are special chemicals to help you keep “oils” broken up so that your filter is easier to clean if you are having difficulty.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR Biguanide

Sanitizer: When using the Biguanide system, you will wish to maintain the sanitizer between 30 and 50 ppm. If your sanitizer level is between 11-30 ppm on the test strip add _ oz of Sanitizer per 150 gallons. If your reading is below 10 ppm add 1 oz of Sanitizer per 150 gallons. Because hot water can be abreeding ground for bacteria and germs, it is better to have a higher level of sanitizer than a lower reading. Always check your level before using the spa!

SHOCKING: Add 3 oz. of Biguanide Spa Shock per 150 gallons each week or anytime the water is not crystal clear. When adding the weekly shock, add 1/4 oz of Stain & Scale and 3/4 oz of Waterline Control per the 150 gallons at the same time.

BASIC STEPS FOR OPERATING YOUR SPA

(1) FILL UP:

Be sure the heater thermostat is turned to its lowest setting. When the water in the spa is at the right level, let the jets run on high speed for at least 10 minutes to get rid of any air in the pipes. This prevents heater damage.

(2) USING THE SPA:

Check the temperature of the water before getting in. If the temperature is above body temperature, you should only stay in the spa 15 minutes at a time. Test the water chemistry and adjust before using the spa. Adjust the pH first, then the sanitizer level. After adding chemicals, let the jets run on high speed for at least 5 minutes to circulate chemicals and then check the chemicals once again. If the sanitizer reading is low, add one ounce of concentrate. Smelling a sharp chemical smell does not mean too much chlorine, it means too little! Run the pump more often and shock the spa if the smell is objectionable. Only use a spa when chemistry is correct!

(3) AFTER USING THE SPA:

Each week always add the proper chemicals to the water. You may find that you need to use the Shock after each use to maintain the clarity of the water. Check your water chemistry several times a week even if you are not using the spa. If you fail to maintain the proper chemistry in the water, you will damage the equipment and you may make your family sick.
