PUMP AND FILTER EQUIPMENT

Pump: Your spa is equipped with a pump manufactured by a company that specializes in these pumps. This pump can run continuously twenty- four hours per day and not be hurt, however the spa will get hotter and hotter simply from the heat generated by the pump. Spa packs are designed with a thermostat that will heat when the pump is in the low speed mode. Never use an extension cord as this causes the pump to over heat and destroy it. Make sure the spa has enough water in it the water level must be at the mark on the skimmer for the pump to receive adequate water.

Filter: Your spa filter contains a specially constructed cartridge element that removes debris and the “scum” from the water. Remember to clean the filter, you must first turn off the pump. The filter element should be cleaned once a week if you use the spa often. This element can be used over and over if it is kept clean. There are chemicals to help clean the element if needed.

Skimmer: Your skimmer is an important part of the filtering system. The skimmer removes the floating surface debris and film from the water.

Drain: Most spas are equipped with a main drain or suction port located in the foot well of the spa . The purpose of this drain/port is to aid in the circulation of the water in the spa.

Air Blower: Your spa may have a powered air blower to force the air through the jets and/or the airline. The action of the pump draws air from the manifold controlled by the air button on the side of the spa. This adds to the overall action of the spa. There is no maintenance the homeowner can perform on the air system.

Heater: The heater is an electrical resistant system with its own thermostat controls. pH is critical to the long life of the heater. Maintain the pH in the proper range or premature failure may occur in the heater. Damage caused by improper chemical maintenance is not covered by your warranty. Electrical services are also critical to the heater. A qualified electrician must perform all electrical hook ups. 240 volts requires a four wire 50 amp. dedicated GFCI protected service. The electrical connections must be made according to the diagram found inside the equipment pack and the correct switches and wire changes made within the pack!

FAILURE TO WIRE THE UNIT CORRECTLY WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND DO MAJOR DAMAGE!

YOU MUST TURN THE HEATER OFF BEFORE RESTARTING THE UNIT AFTER CLEANING THE FILTER OR REFILLING THE SPA! If the heater turns on before full water flow is achieved, you can destroy your heater in seconds.

NOTE: Heaters damaged by improper water chemistry, or heaters that are “dry fired” by not having adequate water flow are not covered by warranty.

Thermostat: There is a control located on the spa side and it controls the
temperature of the spa. The high limit of the unit is preset and the homeowner can make no adjustments to the high limit. By code, the thermostat is to limit the maximum temperature of the water to not over 104 degrees F. There is also an additional thermostat called a high limit switch that will shut down the complete unit if the temperature ever reaches its setting. This is a safety switch to protect you. Never bypass or tamper with the thermostat or the high limit switch. If the entire system is ever just “dead”, press the high limit reset. If the high limit switch trips repeatedly, call for service; do not try to bypass it.

Time Clock: The time clock is built into the system and has automatic settings
that may be programmed with the spa side control. The settings control the filtering of the water in the spa. The spa is well insulated and running a pump continuously will heat the water even with the thermostat turned to its lowest setting.
