Historically this area’s claim to fame is the Revolutionary War General, Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox,) headquartered in the swamps near here. He and his small troop of patriots engaged in many skirmishes with Lord Cornwallis’ troops through out the state. According to some historical accounts, men such as Marion kept the British bottled up in the South and allowed Washington, Gage, and others time to train the Continental Army. The movie “The Patriot” staring Mel Gibson was loosely based on Francis Marion’s life. The city of Florence was started as a railroad hub and named for the daughter of one of the founders. The railroads still use the yards at Florence. Two interstates highways join here in Florence and the city now has become a hub for motor freight and distribution firms.

Spas and Things began as an offshoot of a large pool-building firm that was sold in the late 1980’s. Our people were involved in the construction of vinyl pools, service, and the sales of spas/hot tubs and were not needed after the focus of the new company changed. Spas and Things was begun to fill the void created by that change of direction. As the name suggests, we did not plan to go back into the pool building business, but previous customers asked us to build them a pool since we did it before. Well, one pool led to another, and another, and so forth until today swimming pools are an integral part of what we do.

Spas and Things does above ground pools, in ground pools (fiberglass and vinyl), spas/hot tubs, routine residential maintenance, and repairs. Our people are experienced and extremely talented. We are proud that they have won numerous design and construction awards for their work.
